Pediatric Surgeon Consultation...

We had our consultation appointment with a pediatric surgeon about Austin's cyst above his left eyebrow. He said it is a dermoid cyst, and that it is filled with white cheesy stuff and not fluid so it cant be drained with a syringe. He also said if you didn't remove the capsule it would just refill, so basically that means that he has to actually remove the cyst. So because of this he has to go under general anesthesia. The doctor recommends we wait until he is 8-12 months old to do it as there are less risks with the anesthesia and also because his eyebrows will be grown in and he can make sure they scar gets above the eyebrow and not in it (less noticable this way). So for now, our little guy will be keeping his bump, and Matt can continue to tell me this is yet another reason we should have named him Bump. Austin is still having constipation issues, we are currently on our third formula and giving him 1/4 teaspoonful of milk of mag every morning. I happened to tell the surgeon about these issues while we were there so he wanted to do a rectal exam to check for some hershsomethingsomething disease. Well, we barely got Austin's clothes off and he was already screaming and crying, I'm sure remembering his shots from the week before, and thinking he knew what was coming, but boy was he wrong!!! Mom was up at his head trying to comfort him, while dad helped hold his legs for the doc. The doctor proceeded to glove up and perform the rectal exam, and as Matt put it "he was two large fingers, knocking nuckles deep" in my poor little boy. Then came the poop. It kept coming, and coming, and coming (along with peeing on mom, which thanks to the doctor (NOT MATT) who stuck his hand up to block it, I wasn't completely soaked!!). But, thankfully he doesnt have the disease he was checking for, and he finally pooped out everything he had been holding in for 5 days!! But it was not a fun experience and I'm pretty sure he is going to fear doctors offices for the rest of his life!!!

Hangin' with baby Lily

Michelle, Brandon and Kaylee came down and stayed with us Friday night. Austin got lots of kisses from his cousins, and they were very helpful with feeding "baby Austin":):) Brandon and Kaylee stayed and hung out with us Saturday, while their parents worked at the husker game. I can tell you I am not ready to have 3 kids under 4, I was lucky to get dressed that day:):) Somehow I didn't get any pics of Austin with his cousins, guess I must have been busy!! Baby Lily came over to visit Friday night too and we got some cute pics of the two kiddos!! They are only 9 days apart and she is a little cutie:):)

Two happy babies...

Can you tell the tv is off to the left??:):)

They were both sacked out!!

Looks like they are trying to hold hands:):)

Our little chunker.....

Austin had his 2 month check-up today and I definately went prepared with a list of questions. I'm sure the doctor thought I was nuts when I pulled out my sheet with questions on it, but for those that know me well, you know I have a two second memory and would have forgotten to ask 3/4 of the things I wanted to. Here is a rundown of the appointment:
1) First of the measurements: he was 14 lbs 1.25 oz, in the 94th percentile and was 24 inches long, the 87th percentile. Both of these were greatly increased from the 70th percentiles he was in before. But the doctor says he is proportionate and healthy and there is no need to change his eating habits, so for now we just let our little chunker grow:):)
2) He had to get three shots, which Mom was definately not crazy about, but after about 30 seconds of crying and a little tylenol (which he devoured, apparently he likes cherry flavor) he was good to go.
3) His collarbone is completely healed, just a little bump remains that she said would eventually disappear.
4) After multiple phone calls from me about his left eye that keeps running and being all gooped up, they have decided to try an antibiotic to see if there is an infection or if its just a blocked tear duct.
5) The doc referred us to a pediatric surgeon to remove his cyst above his left eyebrow, so we have a consultation appt there next week.
6) And the last issue was his constipation, currently he is on day 4 with no bowel movement. After trying everything else (rectal temperature, glycerine suppository, water) all to no avail, the doctor said to try milk of mag, so hopefully that gets things moving....
