Pediatric Surgeon Consultation...

We had our consultation appointment with a pediatric surgeon about Austin's cyst above his left eyebrow. He said it is a dermoid cyst, and that it is filled with white cheesy stuff and not fluid so it cant be drained with a syringe. He also said if you didn't remove the capsule it would just refill, so basically that means that he has to actually remove the cyst. So because of this he has to go under general anesthesia. The doctor recommends we wait until he is 8-12 months old to do it as there are less risks with the anesthesia and also because his eyebrows will be grown in and he can make sure they scar gets above the eyebrow and not in it (less noticable this way). So for now, our little guy will be keeping his bump, and Matt can continue to tell me this is yet another reason we should have named him Bump. Austin is still having constipation issues, we are currently on our third formula and giving him 1/4 teaspoonful of milk of mag every morning. I happened to tell the surgeon about these issues while we were there so he wanted to do a rectal exam to check for some hershsomethingsomething disease. Well, we barely got Austin's clothes off and he was already screaming and crying, I'm sure remembering his shots from the week before, and thinking he knew what was coming, but boy was he wrong!!! Mom was up at his head trying to comfort him, while dad helped hold his legs for the doc. The doctor proceeded to glove up and perform the rectal exam, and as Matt put it "he was two large fingers, knocking nuckles deep" in my poor little boy. Then came the poop. It kept coming, and coming, and coming (along with peeing on mom, which thanks to the doctor (NOT MATT) who stuck his hand up to block it, I wasn't completely soaked!!). But, thankfully he doesnt have the disease he was checking for, and he finally pooped out everything he had been holding in for 5 days!! But it was not a fun experience and I'm pretty sure he is going to fear doctors offices for the rest of his life!!!
