Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas was extra special this year....for one thing I got to participate....last year I had to work christmas day and then was supposed to head back to North Platte when I got off at 3, but we got a huge snow storm and the interstate was closed for 3 days and I was stuck here by myself, while Matt and Austin were in North Platte...it was HORRIBLE!!! It was also extra special because Logan joined our family this year. He didn't quite have a clue what was going on, but Austin loved opening both their presents:):) Austin was old enough this Christmas to understand a little bit what was going on, despite the fact that he thinks Christmas is a thing. Whenever we drive by a yard that was decorated with Christmas decorations he would scream, "Look Christmas!!" Maybe next year we'll get the concept that it is a day:):) He loves opening presents and was super spoiled by his grandparents and lots of other family members, so he opened presents for days it seemed like!! I actually got a lot of time off around Christmas so we got to spend 5 days in North Platte with family and we really enjoyed it. Austin is starting to play with Logan more and Logan thinks Austin is just hilarious, so even though he cant really move yet, he loves to just sit there and laugh at Austin.

Where to start.......

Well, its been wayyy too long since I posted last and there are lots of things that have happened since.....lets see..... Logan is now almost 8 months old. His eating and sleeping has regressed. He only sleeps throught the night about twice a week now, other then that he still gets up at 3:30-4:30 am....I have tried everything I can think of to fix this....we have tried letting him cry and he is one stubborn little booger, he has screamed for over 1 hr 45 minutes and I finally just gave in...I couldnt bare to hear him scream anymore. The thing is, he doesnt even want to eat. If I just bring him into our bed, he goes right back to sleep...so I'm not sure if he just wakes up and is scared that he's all alone or what. Which is also weird because we put him in his crib wide awake at bedtime and he puts himself to sleep on his own the first time, but cant put himself back to sleep?!?!? As you can tell, this is extremely frustrating for me:):) As far as eating goes I am starting to wonder if he is going to be going to kindergarten and still only drinking his meals!!! He absolutely hates babyfood, refuses to eat it completely and I can't quite say I blame him. And I have pretty much given up on even trying to give it to him since he is getting old enough he can eat "people food" now. But the problem is he isnt really to keen on people food either. He pretty much refuses to eat anything off a fork or spoon for fear that we are tricking him into eating baby food...smart little cookie:):) But, somedays he will eat some people food off a finger, or if he can pick it up...and then some days he wont eat an solid food.....once again I find this super frustrating!!! I am definitely taking the bottle away at 1 year so if he isnt eating more solid food by then I guess it will get interesting:):) Up until a few days ago he was still immobile...Matt had said he saw him roll a couple times around 3-4 months, but nothing since...but he finally rolled over again over Christmas break. No crawling yet, and no real rolling since, but we'll see......He is still growing like a weed, he is now in 12 month clothing and can wear 18 months with the sleeves and pants rolled...so despite his lack of eating he is apparently getting plenty of nutrition!! He has two bottom teeth and since they have came in his smile has changed...its pretty funny, he now smiles and just out his bottom jaw as if to show off his new pearly whites:):)

Six month doctor appointment

We had Logan's six month check-up last week and this time I was a lot smarter. Last time he was due for his four month check-up Austin was also due for his 2 year appointment so I scheduled them both at the same time during the day, which meant I had to take them both by myself. Well, I sort of forgot that Austin is old enough now to know where he is going and what happens at the doctors office....SHOTS!!! So needless to say I didn't really get to pay much attention to Logan's appointment because I was busy trying to calm Austin down. So, this time I scheduled Logan's appointment for a time when I could take Austin to day care and be able to focus just on Logan. The appointment went well. Developmentally he is right on track...well except for the fact that he is now 6 1/2 months old and still cant roll. Austin was super late rolling too, but he rolled for the first time right around this time, so hopefully Logan will decide to move anytime now. He can sit up really good though, and he is enjoying seeing the world from a more vertical point of view. As far as measurements he was right at 20 pounds (85 percentile) and was 27" (80 percentile)...so he is a little bit smaller then Austin was at this age about 1 1/2 pounds smaller and 1" shorter, but he was a little late eating food, so he may play catch up here soon. He is finally eating full containers of food, so I'm no longer worried that I will have the child that goes to kindergarten on the bottle:):)Everything else looked good at the appointment, he is a happy, healthy boy growing right on schedule....for now we are just waiting to experience his first roll, then we might have to do a little baby proofing:):)

6 months old...

Wow, hard to believe that my baby is 6 months old already!!! Logan is sure changing a lot these days, here are some of the things he is up to:
  • will FINALLY eat food. After 2 months of basically shoving spoonfuls down his throat he finally willingly eats babyfood. He only eats about 1/2 of a container at a time and definitely will not eat cereal off a spoon so we have pretty much given up on that, but for now I am just content that he eats fruits and veggies and we continue to give him cereal out of a bottle.
  • Sits up like a champ...I feel like he sits up wayy better then Austin did at this age, but who knows....maybe I just don't remember. He loves to sit up like a big boy and play with some "big boy toys"
  • Still not rolling....apparently our kids are just a little slow to figure out how to roll over....Austin was super old the first time he rolled over and apparently Logan is following suit.
  • We have his official 6 month appt next week but he went to the doctor last week for a sick visit wand was 19lbs, which was 2 lbs lighter then Austin was at his age
  • Its about time to get rid of the binky...we took Austins binky at 6 months and I plan on doing the same thing with Logan....we are just waiting for a free weekend which I think should be in about 2 weeks...I'm sure that will make for an interesting post or two...
  • Still a pretty laid back baby...we have some sleep issues the past few weeks but we have been battling an ear infection so hopefully that is all it is and he goes back to being the good sleeper that he is...Matt really hopes so as he is sick of sleeping with him every night:):)
  • Has awesome hair.....from what I hear this is thanks to uncle Danny. Logan has this patch of hair on the crown of his head that stands straight up in the air, I was hoping it went away soon, but from what I hear his uncle danny's hair did this until he was 3...great:):)

trying to drink a bottle with an ear infection is tough

Trick or Treat...

Not so sure about this trick or treat thing

Austins a little unsure of the "scary guy"

A little family photo of all the cousins on Matts side

look at my tail!!

cutie pie

all excited for trick or treating

As you can tell the boys had a great halloween. Logan didn't really know what was going on, just that he was trapped in this strange outfit and Austin thought getting candy from the houses was the best thing ever. We finally had to make him quit trick or treating as he was still saying "more houses, more houses". It was a pretty nice evening and Austin had a great time running around with the boys in the neighborhood. I have a feeling Olive street is in for trouble in a few years, we have 6 boys on our little block between the ages of 6 and 1, I'm sure that will make for some broken windows and probable some broken bones....yikes!!!

Vala's Pumpkin patch and the county fair..

In September we took the boys to the Douglas county fair at the Qwest center. They had lots of things for kids to do and the boys got to see all the animals and Austin even got to hold a baby chick!! Austin had tons of fun, and Logan just enjoyed all the noise and people around. Then at the end of September Nina (my mom) came down and brought two of my sisters kids, Brandon and Kaylee, and we all went to Vala's pumpkin patch. The kids had soooo much fun. We rode the train, rode pony's, took a hay rack ride, fed all the animals, went through all the attractions, jumped on the giant jumpers, and went down about every slide imaginable. The kids had a blast!!! Once again, Logan was just along for the ride, but he was great as usual and just enjoyed the new scenery.

These faces are hilarious!!

Austin loved feeding the animals!!
