8 months old already...

I don't really know how to feel about that: a little sad that he is growing up so fast and also excited to see the new things he's learning to do and watch him grow up even more!!! Sorry it has been so long since I've posted I actually worked 40 hours this week, a glimpse of the real world, hopefully minus all the studying that I am also doing right now for my boards. Not too many changes with Austin lately:
  • No teeth yet which I cant really believe because he has been drooling excessively for probably 5 months.
  • No crawling, really he's not even close. Matt and I have decided that its probably because he is such a big boy, you try and lift that gut off the ground, I mean really, it'd be hard!!!!
  • He is rolling all over the place though. We can lay him down on one end of the house and he will roll all the way across until he hits the other wall. The downside to this is so far he hasnt figured out how to roll the other way yet, so we have to turn him around in order for him to be able to roll back:):)
  • Not sure exactly how big he is, my guess would be somewhere in the 29" range and 24lbs. All of his summer clothes are 18-24 months and they are none to big, see I told you he was a big boy!!!
  • Talking up a storm. So far his vocabulary consists of: Mama, baba, papa and ball. No dada yet, but I'm sure its coming dad:):)
  • Loves being outdoors and going to watch his dad coach 11 year old baseball. He has even already gotten to be the bat boy at a few games since I had to work and we couldnt find a sitter. Pretty sure he's probably the youngest bat boy ever, but Matt said he seemed to enjoy it. He even got to eat supper in the dugout in the middle of the second inning:):)

Thats about all for now. I will post some pictures when I get a chance!! Take care and enjoy the nice weather!!

Successfuly surgery....

Well, surgery went well and Austin was a real trooper. They had no problems removing the cyst and he has just one stitch and a few sterry strips to hold his skin together, so not too bad. The nurse said he went right to sleep before surgery with no problems and wasn't scared at all before. The surgery lasted about an hour and he was definately a little shaken up coming out of anesthesia. They said he had a pretty hard time in recovery, crying most of the time, but he didn't ever get sick so that was good. So far he been able to just get through the pain with a little tylenol, and he maybe doesn't even need that today, but we are going to give it to him one more day so he's not in too much pain, its hard when they can't tell you if it hurts or not. He was pretty groggy and his little eyes were very droopy all day yesterday, and he woke up wimpering a little in the night, but so far today he has been almost back to normal so thats good. I am just glad to have the surgery over, and everything was a success!!!
Left eye is still a little swollen

Surgery...

Well, they day has finally come. Austin has surgery tomorrow to remove his dermoid cyst above his left eye. I know its not an invasive surgery, but knowing that they are going to put him under is terrifying!!! I am sure that everything will go fine and they probably have done it a million times, but the thought of them putting him to sleep still scares me to death....Can you tell I am not looking forward to it?!?!? He has surgery scheduled for 9 am, so we have to be to the hospital at 7. Probably the hardest part pre-anesthesia is going to be keeping him from eating!! He can't eat anything past 3am, and if you cant tell by the size of him, this boy likes to eat!! So, I guess we will be waking him up around 2:30 and giving him a midnight snack to hopefully tide him over until after surgery. It is a same day procedure so we should be home by late afternoon if everything goes as planned. So I will try and post tomorrow night how he is doing and of course how we are doing too:):) Im sure Matt and I will be doing a lot better tomorrow after it is all done!!

Where does the time go...

I cant believe how fast he is growing up!!! Here are some new pics and an update with whats going on these days with Austin:
  • He's growing, and growing, and growing.....We went tonight to get him some new summer pj's because his other ones were too small and too warm, and we had to get him 18 month pajamas!!! Where did my baby go?!?!?! I know he is larger than the average 7 1/2 month old, but he is growing so fast!!! All of the summer clothes we have bought him so far have been 18-24 months and the ones hes had on already definately aren't too big.
  • He isn't crawling yet, but is rolling everywhere. He now rolls and rolls and rolls, until he gets the toy he wants. I am wondering if maybe he will skip crawling and just roll where he wants to go.
  • He said his first words last week. Mama (yes I was excited and definately rubbed it in to Matt) and Baba (what can I say the kid loves his food).
  • He took his first underwater dip last week too. I was giving him a bath and his little butt slipped right out from underneath him and under he went. I had a hold of his arm the whole time so he wasn't under for much more then a second and he didn't get too shook up about it. No tears from him, or mom:):)
  • He is giggling and laughing all the time now. I could listen to him giggle all day long, baby's laughs are the best sound in the world!! He is definately starting to take on a personality of his own, and he is one pretty happy little boy most of the time.
  • He has started making this grunting noise and tightening up his whole body while he's doing it. At first it drove me crazy because I thought he was throwing a fit, but soon figured out this is not a fit (see next post). It's pretty cute and our sitter Nikki says it looks like he is grunting and flexing his arms in front of him like a body builder pose, definately a signature move:):)
  • Who knew 7 month olds threw fits?!?! Well, atleast I hope they normally do, otherwise we are hitting our terrible 2's a little early. Really the only time he throws a fit is when he gets layed down to change and doesn't want to be. He can kick, wriggle his body and scream like no other. I think he got his temper from his dad:):)
  • Here are some photos in his new big boy pj's:

What happened to my little baby?!?!?
